Mini is not so Mini anymore and today, the biggest Mini yet, the Clubman makes its India debut.

Mini Clubman
The not so mini - Mini Clubman has been launched in India today at a price of 37.90 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is by far the biggest car from the company and has ample room for an entire average sized family. Unlike other cars from Mini which focus on fun and spirited driving, the Clubman focuses on practicality while keeping alive the sporty character of the brand. This is the second launch from Mini this year in India, after the Mini Convertible. The Clubman widens the portfolio of the Mini brand in the country. Among the sporty not-so-little hatchbacks, the Clubman comes across as a family estate. In india, although it doesn't really have direct competitors, it will end up rivaling the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. To put things into perspective, the Clubman is only Rs 1.40 Lakh more expensive than the Countryman which is priced at Rs 36.60lakh ex-showroom Delhi and was the largest Mini until now.

Engine - 2.0-litre Turbo Petrol

The Mini packs a hefty punch with a 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo petrol engine which produces 192PS of power and 280Nm of torque. This is the same engine we have previously seen in the Cooper S and the Cooper S Convertible. Mated to the engine is an eight-speed Steptronic transmission which sends power to the front wheels.

The only thing mini about this car is its name. Other than that, this car has more than generous proportions measuring 4,253mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,441mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,670mm which is 100mm more than the Mini 5-Door Hatch. At the front is the signature Mini grille with circular headlamps, the sides feature matte black cladding and the rear has the iconic barn doors which split at the centre.

The Mini Clubman comes with the same retro theme which has become a part of the brand's DNA. The centre features an 8.8-inch touchscreen serving the infotainment with a good amount of storage space like cup holders and compartments for knick-knacks. The instrument cluster is a simple circular dial, which has another circular arch on the side for the rpm. Space in the boot is also a good 360 litres. Also, it comes with a barn door tailgate.
