MG Motor India has just announced that the Gloster full-size SUV will be launched in the country on October 8. The Gloster is MG’s flagship product and will take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Toyota Fortuner.
The Gloster will be offered in four variants: Super, Sharp, Smart, and Savvy. It will come in two seating layouts: a 6-seater with captain seats for the middle row and a 7-seater with a bench seat. All four variants come with different seating arrangements, with the mid-spec Sharp being the only one to get both options.

The MG Gloster’s USP lies in its size. It’s bigger than all of its rivals which can be a huge positive for buyers in this segment. Even the interior wooes you with its premium design which looks somewhat similar to BMWs.

The Gloster also comes with an extra long feature list, with the highlight being the level 1 autonomous driving tech including lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and park assist. Other comfort-based features on offer are a 12.3-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a tri-zone climate control, powered front seats with heated and ventilated functions, massage function for the driver, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
The Gloster comes with two 2.0-litre diesel engine options with different outputs. Nope, they aren’t the same engine with a different tune. The Gloster’s higher variants come with a more sophisticated twin-turbo setup. Here are the specs:

The Gloster won’t come cheap. In fact, we expect the base variant with the lower-spec 2.0-litre engine to start around Rs 30 lakh, while the top-spec variant with all bells and whistles should be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
