Mercedes-Benz has expanded its Indian product portfolio with two new models, the C300 and the S500 cabriolets. Along with these new launches, the German manufacturer has announced a drop in price for the E400 cabriolet. The price revision can be linked to the possibility of having the current generation models phased out, thus making way for the next generation E-Class, which is expected to launch by next year. The E400 cabriolet has now been priced at Rs 76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is about Rs 2.5 lakh cheaper than its launch price.

Under the hood, the E400 cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that develops 333PS of power at 5,250-6,000rpm and 480Nm of torque at 1,600-4,000rpm. The engine comes coupled to a seven-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shifters. The car is capable of accelerating from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds. The fabric roof of the convertible can be opened or closed completely in around 20 seconds, at speeds up to 40kmph.

On the equipment list, the car gets LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an ‘edition e’ badge on the fenders. Just like the just-launched C300 and S500 cabriolets, the E400 drop-top features the Mercedes Aircap system that keeps the wind draft in check when driving with the top down. Other gadgetry includes a COMAND seven-inch infotainment interface that features navigation, Bluetooth audio streaming and USB connectivity. The unit is supported by a 14-speaker 610W sound system by Harman Kardon.
