Mercedes-Benz has launched the ‘Edition C’ of its premium sedan, the C-Class. Based on the Avantgarde trim, the Edition C is available with all three powertrain options - the C 200, C 200d and the C 250d. The prices for each variant across India are as follows:

C 200 Edition C - Rs 42.54 lakh
C 220d Edition C - Rs 43.54 lakh
C 250d Edition C - Rs 46.87 lakh

The Edition C variant gets a host of cosmetic enhancements and features over the standard Avantgarde version. The C-Class also gets the Designo Hyacinth Red exterior colour option for the first time as well.

On the outside, the Edition C gets a black front lip spoiler, a black rear spoiler and gloss black five-twin spoke alloy wheels. The car also gets ‘Edition C’ badging on the body and blacked out front louvres, ORVM housings, beltline and side skirts. The ORVMs also get puddle lamps that display the three-pointed star logo. Additional equipment inside the cabin include the open-pore black ash wood trim from the E-Class, stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs along with Garmin Map Pilot SD card navigation system as standard.

Compared to the standard C-Class, the Edition C costs about Rs 3.6 lakh more depending on the engine you opt for. Speaking of engine options, the C 200 gets a 1991cc petrol engine that produces 184PS of power and 300Nm of torque. With this engine, the C-Class accelerate from standstill to a 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 235kmph. The C 200d and the C 250d get the same 2143cc diesel engine, albeit with different state of tune. On the C 200d, this engine churns out 170PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The C 250d, on the other hand, makes 204PS of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. While the C 200d takes 7.4 seconds to hit 100kmph, the more powerful version takes a mere 6.6 seconds. All versions come equipped with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.

With the launch of the Edition C, Mercedes-Benz aims at attracting more customers during the festive season. The Edition C is a good option if you are looking to buy a C-Class but want to stand out from the crowd. It competes with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and the Jaguar XE in the Indian market.
