Maruti Suzuki's 2nd edition of Autocross concludes

Held in Bangalore, the second edition of the Maruti Suzuki Autocross witnessed two days of breathtaking action on a defined course made at the Supernova Arena, New Airport Road. Being a form of motorsport that lays emphasis on safe competition, this year’s Maruti Suzuki Autocross saw close to 150 entries over two days.

This year’s edition saw a lot of experienced hands making all the action more nail biting and intense. Den Thimmiah in his Swift took the honours as the Fastest Driver Overall. He also stood at the top of the podium in the Swift Open category and the Faster Driver in India Open Category. Shabbir AR emerged as the fastest driver in the diesel class, while Syed Salman and Shahid Khan won in the 1401-1600cc Category and the 4 X 4 Gypsy Category respectively.

Speaking on the successful edition of Autocross in Bangalore, Vinay Pant, General Manager (Marketing) said, “With only 2 years of this rally in Bangalore, we are overwhelmed with the warm welcome and immense participation seen in this city. I heartily congratulate all the winners this year and look forward to their participation in other rallies led by Maruti Suzuki in the coming seasons – elevating Indian motorsports year after year.”

Over the years, Autocross has started to gain a lot of prominence in India as it serves as just the right platform for motorsport enthusiasts to experience a fun filled rallying experience, all in a controlled environment. It is a competition that is organised at a grassroot level before enthusiasts graduate to rallies like Maruti Suzuki Raid de Himalaya, Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm and Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare.
