The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is slated to launch on August 21 and bookings for the Ertiga-based premium MPV have officially begun for a token amount of Rs 11,000. As the launch date inches closer, the manufacturer has started revealing details of the MPV through teasers and images. And this time around, the variant details and colour options of the XL6 have been officially revealed.

The XL6 will be available in two trim levels - Zeta and Alpha. In comparison, the Ertiga petrol is available in four trim levels -- LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI+. Both variants of the XL6 can be had with either a manual or an automatic transmission option and this takes the total variant count to four. However, the manufacturer is yet to reveal the XL6’s exact variant-wise feature list.

Based on previous teasers and images, the XL6 comes loaded with features like LED headlamps with DRLs, Smartplay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, multi-info driver’s display, power windows and leatherette upholstery. Apart from that, we expect cruise control to be part of the package too.

  • Metallic Premium Silver.

Under the hood, the XL6 will come with the 1.5-litre K15B petrol unit from the Ertiga and is expected to be a BS6-compliant unit. It develops 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual for the MT variants while the automatic is likely to use the 4-speed torque converter unit from the Ertiga.

As the name suggests, the XL6 will be a premium six-seater MPV based on the Ertiga. A leaked picture also suggests that it gets a revamped fascia and looks different compared to the model it is based on. The XL6 is expected to be priced from Rs 9.5 lakh to 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, it will rival the Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy.
