The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been one of the most talked about and most highly awaited cars from India’s largest automobile manufacturer. The compact SUV has also racked up a huge number of bookings with the official figure being just a smudge over 20,000 cars the last time we spoke to our sources at Maruti Suzuki. In fact, just 48 hours after the launch of the car, the Brezza had racked up 5000 bookings with people eagerly awaiting delivery.
Sources at Maruti and at several dealers that we spoke to confirmed that the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza’s first deliveries will happen on March 25. Dealers also said that most of the cars that were booked were either of the top of the line ZDI or ZDI+ variant with quite a few people choosing the two tone optional shades. The new Brezza waiting periods on average is about four months but some dealers mentioned how due to excessive bookings this might even stretch to about six months.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will only be available with a diesel engine option as of now. The tried and tested 1.3-litre engine makes 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque and although that isn’t best in class, it is decent enough to propel the Brezza to highway cruising speeds without any problems. The Brezza has a five speed manual gearbox with an AMT option in the near future. The Brezza will also eventually get a brand new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
When we drive the Brezza, (Click here to read Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Review), we particularly likes the way it was designed both on the outside and on the inside. The interior space and the amount of tech and gadgetry you get with the Brezza are also impressive and so is the ride and handling. That said, we were underwhelmed with the NVH levels and the overall quality of plastics that you get in the new compact SUV. All in all, there is no doubt that the Brezza as a whole is a very competitive and great product from the stables of Maruti Suzuki.
