The Ciaz, Maruti’s C-segment sedan offering, has crossed the '1,00,000 units' sales milestone. The car was launched in October 2014 and has ever since maintained steady sales numbers. The car has surpassed segment leader Honda City’s sales figures on many occasions. In fact, Maruti sold more units of the Ciaz compared to Honda's City, last month.

Speaking on the occasion, R.S. Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Ciaz is tastefully designed borrowing cues from European styling that is clean, elegant and clutter-free. It carries a very distinct style. On the inside it comes with some great features and a class leading infotainment system. The vehicle’s ride quality and comfort is superior. Use of technological innovations like SHVS has made it even more attractive.”

He further added, “Today, Ciaz is the largest selling sedan in the A3+ segment. It has enabled us to achieve a market share of 40% in the premium sedan segment. Success of Ciaz is very encouraging as it demonstrates customers’ confidence in Maruti Suzuki and reinforces our commitment to offer premium products in the upper segments.”

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz against the sky

The Ciaz has got a generous amount of space in the cabin and comfortably seats five people. It also has a massive boot space of 501 litres, which is equal to that of the Honda City and better than the space in the Hyundai Verna and the Volkswagen Vento. Moreover, the interiors get the SmartPlay infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay, as well as semi-leather upholstery in the top-end trim. The car also gets an all-black interior layout with the range-topping RS version, however, beige interiors are standard across the range.

Power comes through the Fiat-sourced 90PS 1.3-litre diesel motor and a 1.4-litre petrol. A five-speed manual is available as standard with both the engines. However, one can opt for automatic transmission with the petrol one.
