Plus a confirmation on the company's Auto Expo lineup

  • The concept is a design study likely to feature future automotive tech from Maruti and Suzuki.
  • Vitara Brezza and Ignis facelifts will be the highlight of Maruti’s production models.
  • Maruti will showcase a total of 17 cars including its entire BS6 lineup and a Japan-spec Swift Hybrid.

Maruti Suzuki has announced its plans for Auto Expo 2020. According to a company news release, Maruti will showcase the Futuro-e electric concept coupe-SUV and the facelifted BS6 Vitara Brezza and Ignis alongside 14 other cars. The Vitara Brezza was recently spied. Maruti Suzuki’s focus at this year’s show is on bringing green tech to the Indian customer.

The Futuro-e concept is a future electric vehicle from Maruti Suzuki. First teased last week, the coupe-SUV is a design study and could be a platform for Maruti to showcase automotive technologies. This auto expo will see the global premiere of the Futuro-e.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the Vitara Brezza SUV at Auto Expo 2020. The facelifted compact SUV’s biggest highlight is its new K15B petrol engine which makes it BS6-compliant. Exterior changes include new projector headlamps and LED tail lamps, a redesigned front bumper, and a new chrome grille. New features are also likely to be added to the Vitara Brezza’s equipment list.

If the Vitara Brezza’s facelift seems minimal, the Ignis features fewer changes still. The only discernible change is in its S-Presso-like grille and redesigned bumpers. The tail lamps are slightly different, too. A BS6 K12B 1.2-litre petrol unit is likely to be the only engine on offer. Maruti may make additions to the equipment list of the Ignis as well.

Alongside the two models and concept vehicle, Maruti will exhibit its BS6 lineup, and interestingly, a Swift Hybrid. The Celerio, Swift, Wagon R, Baleno, and S-Presso hatchbacks, Dzire and Ciaz sedans, and Ertiga and XL6 MPVs will also be present. In line with its vision for sustainability, Maruti’s pavilion will be entirely paperless. It will also house Maruti Suzuki Studio for the first time to telecast events held at the expo.
