Update: Maruti Ciaz Facelift Launch On August 6!

The Maruti Ciaz facelift has been making rounds in the country testing its updates. New spy shots reveal that the new Ciaz will get LED headlamps and DRLs with the facelift. The new front design too is a lot sleeker than before and the combination should give the Ciaz a much needed makeover.

At the back, the same design continues. The tail lamp cluster too looks the same but now get LED elements to make it look modern. And so far we like what we see. Apart from these two updates and new alloy wheel design, there are no other obvious changes to the exterior of the car.

Inside, previous spy shots revealed that there is going to be no major change in the layout. But that could be a pre-production model and Maruti can still introduce some new elements there as well.

In term of mechanical changes, the 1.4-litre petrol engine will most likely be replaced by a 1.5-litre motor. The new engine makes 104.7PS of maximum power and 138Nm of peak torque on the Indonesia-spec second-gen Ertiga and should carry a similar tune here as well. Moreover, this could be the first petrol-powered Maruti in India to carry the SHVS tech, which is only available with the diesel as of now. The current engine makes 92PS of maximum power and 130Nm of peak torque. While it is not underpowered, the motor does lack power when out on the highway or if you wish to engage in some spirited driving. The 1.3-litre DDiS200 diesel engine will be retained and there will be no 1.6-litre DDiS320 option.

The car will most likely be launched in the next two months and will carry a mild price hike given the feature updates. Also, features like dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts and seatbelts with force limiter and pre-tensioner will most likely be offered as standard.

Despite not having seen an update for about 4 years now, the Ciaz remains on top of the sales chart. With the update, Maruti is expected to increase the gap considerably over its rivals like the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna.
