Mahindra XUV500 facelift spotted testing in India

Mahindra has been busy testing its forthcoming SUV – the Mahindra XUV500 facelift for quiet sometime. The test mule has been spotted undergoing tests in Chennai, and images of the heavily camouflaged SUV have surfaced on the web.

The spy shots of the new Mahindra XUV500 facelift reveal that the SUV will receive chrome door handles, new LED units for the spoiler integrated stoplight, a redesign of the registration plate enclosure, and new alloy wheel pattern. Few changes to the dashboard can also be expected.

Mechanically the SUV is expected to remain unchanged. A 2.2-litre four-cylinder oil burner churning out 140PS of power and 330Nm of torque is expected to do duty under the Mahindra XUV500 facelift. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Mahindra XUV500 has always been a seller product with more than 2,500 models being sold every month. The automaker plans to further boost its sales with the launch of this SUV. The new Mahindra XUV500 facelift will be launched in India this year. Once launched, this refreshed SUV will lock horns with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Tata Safari Storme.
