Mahindra sells 40,719 vehicles in April 2012

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 40,719 units in April 2012 compared to 32,090 units during April 2011, leading to a 27 percent increase in sales over the same period last year. Domestic sales stood at 39,299 units for the month of April 2012 compared to 30,349 units in April 2011, an increase of 29 percent. The passenger vehicle segment which includes Mahindra’s Utility Vehicles (UVs) and the Verito sedan sold 20,558 units in April 2012 compared to 15,459 units in April 2011, registering a 33 percent growth.

Speaking on the company’s performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We are happy to have achieved a growth of 27% during the first month of the new financial year.  We are particularly encouraged by the success of all our brands especially Bolero which figures in the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India. Going forward, we will continue to work towards maintaining this growth momentum”. 

Mahindra has been registering increased sales over the past few months. In March 2012, the company sold 47,001 units, up 25 percent, while February sales rose 29 percent with 43,087 vehicles sold.

Mahindra & Mahindra currently sell the Bolero, Scorpio, Scorpio Getaway, Thar, Xylo, XUV500 and Verito in the passenger vehicle segment in India. In the commercial vehicle segment M&M sells the Maxximo, Gio, Genio pick-up truck and the Bolero pick-up truck in India.
