Mahindra Scorpio clocks highest ever annual sales

The last Financial Year was a special one for India’s Utility Vehicle specialist, Mahindra and Mahindra as it sold 51,553 units of its popular SUV model - the Mahindra Scorpio. This is the highest ever annual sale for the Mahindra Scorpio brand since its introduction back in 2002.

The Mahindra Scorpio has crossed the 50,000 unit milestone a few times before, but in FY15 it saw a marginal 1 per cent rise taking the figure to 51,553 units in a year. The New Scorpio, which was launched in September 2014, also contributed to this helping achieve Mahindra Scorpio’s highest ever monthly sales in its launch month having sold 6,060 units.

Speaking on the milestone, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra said, “This is a very proud moment for us, as the iconic and trend-setting Scorpio has achieved yet another milestone. With the launch of the New Generation Scorpio we have further shifted the orbit and scripted a success story like no other”.

Mahindra’s New Scorpio comes powered with a 2,179cc four cylinder diesel engine producing 121.7PS of peak power and 280Nm of torque. The SUV is also sold in various international markets like Africa, Latin America and the ASEAN region. The brand has also been introduced in Tunisia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia.
