Mahindra Racing Formula E Team has revealed the winner of the team’s #DrivenByDesign online livery competition. Adrià Haro Jorba is the winner whose entry was chosen over 280 other designs submitted during the 10-day competition. Participants took part in the contest from 40 different countries and many fans submitted more than just one entry to put forward their ideas for Mahindra Racing’s FIA Formula E Championship challenger.
Dilbagh Gill, Team Principal, Mahindra Racing Formula E Team said, “It is a really exciting moment for us to reveal our M3Electro for season three of Formula E, adorned with the magnificent winning livery from our #DrivenByDesign competition. We would like to thank all the Mahindra Racing fans for their overwhelming participation in this exciting contest. Adrià’s design is a perfect mix of Mahindra’s energetic red with the subtle inclusion of the Indian flag colours and I look forward to seeing it on track.”
India submitted the most numbers of entries into the competition, followed by United Kingdom, Italy and Spain respectively. After the competition, the top 14 entries were judged by leading Italian design house Pininfarina, which is a part of the Mahindra Group. The winner was chosen by none other than Pininfarina Chief Designer Fabio Filippini. Haro Jorba, the winner, as a reward, will receive a once-in-a-lifetime trip to spend a day at Pininfarina’s headquarters in Turin, Italy, with Filippini, along with Mahindra's design team.
Fabio Filippini, Chief Designer, Pininfarina said, “All three of the top entries propose, through the graphic combination of colours and shapes, a good dynamic interpretation of the challenging spirit of Formula E. The winning livery in particular expresses a strong sense of speed and aerodynamic flow, by visualising and enhancing airflow around the car body and the aerodynamic components. It also achieves a very clean and simple use of the iconic Mahindra colours and a subtle integration of the Indian national flag.”
Within seven days the Mahindra Racing team applied Haro Jorba's design to the final car that is ready for its first official public Formula E test.
Drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld will be driving Mahindra's Formula E cars in the 2016-17 FIA Formula E Championship which will commence on 9 October in central Hong Kong.
