Mahindra & Mahindra Recalls XUV500 For Airbag Software Update

Mahindra and Mahindra has initiated a voluntary recall for the Mahindra XUV500 manufactured on or before July 2014, to upgrade the airbag software free of cost. Mahindra Scorpio, XUV500 and Xylo in November 2014, to rectify defective vacuum pump in engines.

Mahindra XUV500 recalled to upgrade airbag software

Country’s top SUV maker has recalled an unspecified number of its popular flagship SUV – the Mahindra XUV500 to update the airbag software. All Mahindra XUV500 vehicles manufactured on or before July 2014 will need software upgrade for the side curtain airbag. 

Like all voluntary recalls, the car manufacturers will be contacting the effected customers individually and the software will be upgraded free of cost. Mahindra has confirmed that no parts of the Mahindra XUV500 will be replaced, during this recall. Customers can also visit the ‘Service Action’ section of the website and check whether their vehicle is part affected by this recall.

Vehicle recall have become more frequent in India ever since auto industry body SIAM implemented the voluntary vehicle recalls for safety related issues in July 2012. And till now over seven lakh vehicles have been recalled by various manufacturers in India.

Mahindra XUV500 was also recalled in November 2014
Mahindra & Mahindra has recalled about 2,300 units of Mahindra Scorpio, XUV500 and Xylo in November last year, to rectify defective vacuum pump in engines. In July 2014 Mahindra had recalled around 23,000 units of Mahindra Scorpio to fix faulty pressure regulating valves.
