On India's seventieth Independence Day, Mahindra treated us all to a new colour - called Bronze Green - for the TUV300.

Mahindra TUV300 Bronze Green

The TUV300 is a potent player in its segment, with many Mahindra fanatics supporting the vehicle. With its butch stance, spacious cabin and a reasonable price tag, the TUV300 never goes unnoticed by somebody who is in the market looking for an entry-level SUV.

To highlight the self-professed 'battle tank' tag for the TUV300 and to celebrate India's seventieth Independence day, Mahindra has added a new colour to the options available on the TUV300. It's called the Bronze Green, and is only available on specific orders. Neither the company, nor the dealers have mentioned a price change for the new paint job. Apart from the additional colour option, there are no cosmetic or mechanical changes on the TUV300.

Other colour options on the TUV300 include Dynamo Red, Bold Black, Molten Orange, Majestic Silver, Verve Blue and Glacier White. As is the case with its bigger sibling, the Scorpio, the TUV300 sells most in white. During the TUV300 launch, the company also introduced a combat green colour which was then available as an optional extra from Mahindra's in-house customization division. The new bronze green is nearly identical. The only difference now is that it's avaiable as a standard colour option and not as an optional extra.

Earlier this year, Mahindra launched a new, more powerful diesel engine under the hood of the TUV300. With the new 1.5-litre mHAWK100 motor, the power and torque figures went up from 85PS to 101PS and from 230Nm to 240Nm, respectively. The new engine, however, is only available on the top-spec T8 or T8 AMT (automated manual transmission) variants.

TUV simply stands for Tough Utility Vehicle. And the name is justified, since the TUV300 is the most rugged if one compares it with similar offerings, such as the Ford Ecosport and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The top-spec T8 variant with the mHAWK100 diesel engine is priced at Rs 9.0 lakh and the T8 AMT spec has a price tag of Rs 9.73 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
