With an extensive business portfolio that stretches right from the automotive industry, agribusiness, aerospace, components and consulting services to defence, energy, financial services, industrial equipment, logistics, real estate, retail, steel and two wheelers, Mahindra & Mahindra is global corporation that relies heavily on an efficient supply chain that ensures all essential components are delivered to their respective businesses on time.
To address its numerous spares and component suppliers all over the world, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd organized its suppliers meet in Seoul, Korea for the second time (May 15-18, 2011) which was attended by around 150 suppliers from India and abroad. A joint suppliers’ meet for both its Automotive and Farm divisions, the event was also attended by M&M’s common suppliers of its Swaraj division, Mahindra Navistar and Mahindra Reva. The massive gathering also included 30 SsangYong suppliers.
This global meet was an ideal opportunity for Mahindra to discuss challenges faced by the Indian automobile industry such as impact of input costs, hike in interest rates and rising commodity prices.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, President – AFS (Automotive & Farm Equipment Sector) M&M, who is also the President of SIAM, shared insights on the global and domestic automotive scenario and also spoke about how Mahindra would expand its global footprint with the acquisition of Ssangyong Motor Company.
The New Rise initiative of the Mahindra Group which is built on the three pillars of Accept No Limits, Alternative Thinking and Driving Positive Change was also introduced to the suppliers.
Awards for the Best Suppliers:
The conference was later followed by an award ceremony, where the suppliers’ performance during F11 was recognized across different categories like Business Partner of the Year, Best Quality Performance, Best Product Development etc.
The Sanjeevani Award was presented for extraordinary efforts taken by suppliers during a crisis, while the President’s Award was presented to M/s. Bosch Ltd & M/s. Fritzmeier Motherson Cabin Engg. Ltd. for Best Overall Performance.
