Mahindra Two Wheelers had launched the more powerful version of the Gusto scooter back in March. However, back then, the Gusto 125 was available only in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Now the manufacturer has officially made the scooter available in eight more states in the country. The Gusto 125 is available in two variants - VX and DX. Mahindra has priced the Gusto 125 at Rs 40,410 for the DX model while the top-spec VX model has been priced at Rs 52,410 (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
Talking about the development, Vinod Sahay, Chief Operating Officer, Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. said, “Since its launch last year, Gusto has grown consistently and we are now excited about extending the Gusto brand into include new consumer segments. The all-new Mahindra Gusto 125 is bound to turn heads on roads in India as it is packed with a powerful 125 cc M-TEC engine with load sensing MCDi technology and stylish looks to match! We continue with Gusto’s innovative car-like features, like India’s only Height Adjustable Seat, that makes the new Mahindra Gusto 125 a complete, fully loaded scooter that is sure to delight consumers.”
The Gusto 125 has been developed completely in-house by Mahindra's team at its R&D centre in Pune. The scooter sports a more powerful 125 cc M-TEC engine compared to its 110cc sibling. The engine is equipped with MCDi technology that changes the ignition timing for better performance when it senses stress on the motor. Mahindra claims that this technology will make double occupancy trips on slopes and zipping through traffic an easy task. The engine is capable of producing 8.7PS of power and 10Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a CVT gearbox.
The scooter comes with tubeless tyres on 12-inch wheels which offer superior ride capabilities. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The scooter features drum brakes at both ends even for the VX model.
Feature-wise, the VX model of the Gusto 125 comes equipped with some unique features like height adjustable seat, remote flip key, find me-lamps and guide lamps and easy front kick to list a few. The Gusto is the first scooter in India to offer a height adjustable seat.
The Mahindra Gusto 125 is available in four colour shades - Orange Rush, Bolt White, Monarch Black and Regal Red. The scooter is also being globally launched in some Asian and Central American countries soon.
