Kawasaki had the town talking when it introduced the supercharged H2R in the market. Now, it has been reported that Kawasaki is working on the development of a 600cc motorcycle that will come with the supercharger that has been used in the H2R. The images of the supercharged motorcycle christened the ‘R2’ have been leaked from the factory’s legal department providing an insight into what new equipment will be on offer.
In terms of styling, the R2 takes design cues from the current ZX-6R and the H2R. The front of the motorcycle has a large air scoop below the visor with a rounded nose just ahead of the headlights. The compact air feed of the supercharger has been routed from underneath the fuel tank for an unrestricted path. To compensate for the reduced size of the fuel tank, Kawasaki has extended the rear portion of the tank over the supercharger which finishes under the rider’s seat.
Towards the rear, the upcoming motorcycle will receive an under-seat exhaust giving the bike a clean and slim look. The swing arm used for the R2 is apparently slimmer as compared to its bigger sibling, the H2R. The other image gives a view from the top, highlighting the routeing of the air feed for the supercharger and the presence of a trellis frame as seen on the H2R. An additional image also consists of a flowchart explaining the complete process of the R2’s intake system and its working.
If rumours are to be believed, Kawasaki might reveal the R2 at the upcoming 2016 EICMA Motor Show which will be held in November. Keep watching this space for more information on the Japanese manufacturer's new baby - the H2R.
