Luxury sports cars and SUV brand Lamborghini has registered its best half-year sales, calculated from January to June 2021, in its 58 years of operations. The real icing on the cake is that the Italian carmaker already has its hands full for the next ten months, having gotten orders until April 2022.
For context, Lamborghini sold 4,852 units within the aforementioned window, a 37 percent and 6.6 percent increase over the corresponding periods in 2020 and 2019, respectively. This is undoubtedly an impressive feat, considering the world (and the automobile industry specifically) was taken unawares by the pandemic and the resultant, often repeated, global lockdowns last year.
Of the total units moved, the Lamborghini Urus (2,796 units) accounted for more than half of these numbers. The Huracan (1,532 units) and the Aventador (524 units) came in at number two and three, respectively.
President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, “This exceptional result is a double confirmation for us. It is proof of the solidity and strength of this brand, which is enjoying growing appeal despite a period of continuous challenges and uncertainty. It also endorses the positive reception to our new industrial plan for future electrification of our product range, in which we will invest over 1.5 billion euros by 2024. Lamborghini’s course is set for a period of great transformation, where technological innovation and sustainability will go hand in hand with a focus on maximum product performance and loyalty to the brand’s DNA.”
Lamborghini enjoyed the most success in the USA from January to June this year, selling as many as 1,502 units there. The carmaker has also launched the final iteration of the iconic Aventador, dubbed the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae. Scroll down for more details on that.
