The Huracan RWD Spyder is the only variant of the sportscar that was missing from Lamborghini's Indian lineup

After bringing in the air force-inspired Huracan Avio in September of 2016, Lamborghini is ready to launch the last piece of the Huracan puzzle, and it’ll come in a different flavour. The latest avatar of the Huracan to arrive in India will be losing the extra traction from the front axles, along with the roof.

The Huracan RWD Spyder is the only variant of the Italian company’s most affordable sportscar that wasn’t available in India. Other than the Avio, the Huracan is internationally available as a Coupe, RWD Coupe, Spyder and an RWD Spyder.

Given the limited grip on offer because of its rear-wheel drive layout, it takes 3.6 seconds to reach 100kmph, compared to 3.2 seconds in the all-wheel drive car. 0-200kmph also takes half a second more than the all-wheel drive variants’ time of 9.9 seconds. The spec-sheet fanatics may also be interested in knowing that it tops out at 319kmph instead of being able to touch the 325kmph mark like the all-wheel drive Huracans.

The 5.2-litre V10 in the RWD Spyder makes 580PS of power at 8000rpm and 540Nm of torque at 6500rpm. If you’re keeping track, that’s 20Nm less torque and 30 fewer horses compared to its all-wheel drive siblings. The 7-speed dual clutch transmission, however, is the same and so is the width of the tyres with 245-section rubber at the front and 305-section at the back. The tyres on the all-wheel drive versions have a lower profile and rock 20-inch alloys while the newest Lambo will wear 19-inch rims. The taller sidewall should make the ride on public roads a bit more tolerable, though.

The car comes with three driving modes, Strada, Corsa and Sport. The Strada version best suited for daily driving as the electronic nanny always keeps an eye on you and intervenes to maximise the grip and comfort of the car. The Corsa mode is for times when you want to indulge in spirited driving style. The Corsa setting is also suitable for recording fast lap times around a racetrack. In the Sport mode, the RWD Spyder is more willing to get its tail out because of its rear-wheel drive layout, which makes it a lot of fun if you love going sideways.

The soft top on this Spyder is said to be heat and sound insulating and can be opened or closed at the push of a button at speeds of up to 50kmph. On the insides, everything from the 12.3-inch instrument console to the cockpit-inspired controls gives the driver the adrenaline rush of flying low.

The Huracan range starts with the RWD Coupe, which retails for Rs 2.99 crore in India. The Coupe and Spyder cost Rs 3.43 crore and Rs 3.89 crore, respectively. In the Lamborghini universe, going top down costs about Rs 46 lakh. Keeping that in mind, we can say that the Huracan RWD Spyder should cost Rs 3.4-3.5 crore.
