The 790 Adventure will be launched in India in the latter half of 2020

  • It is powered by the same 799cc parallel-twin motor as the 790 Duke.
  • Gets spoke wheels at both ends (21-inch front and 18-inch at the rear).
  • Comes equipped with a digital instrument cluster, traction control, and cornering ABS.
  • KTM has turned Goa into a sea of orange by unveiling and showcasing an armada of motorcycles. Now, we have finally seen the 390 Adventure. But, at the 2019 IBW, KTM brought its bigger sibling, the 790 Adventure, as well! There’s no word about its official launch date yet, but it is expected by the end of next year.

The 790 Adventure is powered by the same 799cc parallel-twin motor as seen on the 790 Duke. But here, this motor produces 94PS of power and 88Nm of torque, which is 11PS less than the 790 Duke. However, the torque on the 790 Adventure is available at a lower 6,600rpm compared to the streetfighter’s 8,000rpm. This 799cc motor will soon be replaced by a bigger Euro 5/BS6-compliant 890cc unit. Expect the updated motor to produce a bit more power than the current unit. Interestingly, KTM is already working on an 890cc GT motorcycle, which was spotted a few months back.

In terms of rider aids, it gets traction control, cornering ABS and a quickshifter. Moreover, the 790 Adventure gets an ‘off-road’ mode, which helps the bike maintain traction on loose surfaces. There’s also an R variant, which is sold in the international markets, but we still don’t know whether it will come to India or not.

The 790 Adventure is expected to be priced at Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, it will rival the BMW 750GS and the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx.
