The race between the motoring giants to produce the fastest running vehicles is raging with each passing day. The Swedish car manufacturer, Koenigsegg, however seems to have taken a lead in this race with the launch of their new car. The carmaker is set to unveil their Koenigsegg Agera One:1 at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show which they proclaim to be the world’s fastest mega car.
The car is christened as One:1 keeping in mind an important aspect. The weight of the car is equivalent to its power. Yes, you heard it right. The car weighs 1,340kg and produces a good 1,340PS of power. The design cues of the Koenigsegg Agera will be carried over to the Koenigsegg Agera One:1. The new car will inherit design elements such as the small LED framed rear lights and an oversized central exhaust from its predecessor.
The car is lighter in weight as compared to Koenigsegg Agera due to the extensive use of carbon-fibre. The One:1 sits on 20-inches carbon-fibre wheels on the front and rear ends. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a bespoke seven-speed dual clutch box and electronic differential.
The interior of the Koenigsegg Agera One:1 gets carbon-fibre ventilated racing seats with a padding of memory foam. The new car comes with a 3G connection for telemetry, performance, lap times, and also gets software upgrades which include an iPhone app. The mega car also gets 3G/GPS controlled predictive active chassis and aero track modes alongwith active noise cancelling seat options.
The One:1 underpins a mid-mounted 5.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine producing a maximum power of 1,360PS and a peak torque of 1,370Nm, thus drawing an inspiration to its name, an equal-power-to-weight-ratio.
According to the Swedish car manufacturer, the Koenigsegg One:1 is capable of accelerating to 400kmph in approximately 20 seconds with a top speed of 440kmph. The new car develops upto 2g of cornering force, while its aerodynamic design allows it to produce over 600kg of downforce when travelling over 260kmph. The car's active chassis system adjusts ride height using data derived from the 3G and GPS readings of the car.
Koenigsegg will reveal further details about the car at the Geneva Motor Show. The manufacturer has planned to build only six of these masterpieces, all of which have been pre-sold even before the car’s debut.
