The Kia Sonet Is Off To A Flying Start With Over 6,500 Bookings On The First Day Itself!

Expect the Sonet to launch at prices ranging from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom)

 

  • Sonet’s launch confirmed for mid-September. 

  • Will be offered in six variants within the Tech Line and GT Line trims.

  • Features will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, UVO connected car tech and LED sound mood lighting.

  • Upto three engines and five transmission options will be on offer.

  • Will take on the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Kia’s upcoming Sonet sub-4m SUV is off to a flying start since it officially commenced bookings yesterday. The carmaker has revealed that the Sonet has garnered  6,523 bookings in just one day! Bookings are being accepted for a token amount of Rs 25,000 and can be done online or at authorised Kia Motors dealerships. Offered in six variants within the Tech Line and GT Line trims, the Sonet is confirmed for a mid-September India launch.  

It is based on the Hyundai Venue, yet differentiates itself with a design philosophy inspired by its larger sibling, the Seltos. Exterior highlights include Kia’s traditional ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, butch body cladding and 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels. The GT Line trim adds red accents all over. 

Heading inside, the Sonet will be loaded with kit such as a Seltos-derived 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and steering wheel. It will also get UVO connected car tech, wireless phone charging, LED sound mood lighting and a Bose 7-speaker audio system. Safety kit include ABS with EBDS, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors with a rear view camera, hill start assist, brake assist and ESC.

Powering the Sonet will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and  1.5-litre diesel engine. Upto five transmission combinations will be on offer, with the main highlight being a proper 6-speed torque converter automatic for the diesel variants unlike its diesel rivals that get an AMT.
