India Kawasaki Motors (IKW) has finally been able to clear the legal issue that was caused by its SNK Kawasaki dealership. The Navi Mumbai outlet had failed to provide the delivery of 13 motorcycles to customers who had already made full payment or had applied for loans. The duped customers had posted about the incident on social media, followed by going legal with the issue. Now, in order to prevent any further negativity for the brand and to bring an end to the legal battle, IKW has resolved the dispute by providing the delivery of the said motorcycles to the tormented customers.
The company had organised a press conference in Pune where the clarification was provided on the controversy that was been around since August. Some of the highlights mentioned in the event are as follows:
- Initially, IKW was under the impression that only three bikes were affected, which was later found out be a total of 13 motorcycles. 11 cases were from Mumbai while the other two were from Pune.
- The pending list of motorcycles consisted of nine Z800's, two ZX10R's, one Ninja 1000 and one Versys 1000.
- In order to resolve the dispute, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Limited (KHEI) had sent lawyers to IKW who were in India for two months. It was these legalities that had caused the delays.
- IKW has confirmed that the incident will not affect other dealers or any future plans for India.
- It is an exceptional incident that no other OEM has ever encountered before, but Kawasaki has finally done right by its customers, which is quite commendable.
