Jeep has given the Cherokee, Compass and Patriot SUVs makeovers for 2014. The cosmetic changes are mostly limited to new head lights, tail lights, front bumper, silver mesh for the grilles and revised rear bumpers.

The Grand Cherokee gets a new front bumper with new fog lamps, the chrome grille is ditched for a more sober body coloured one with silver mesh. The headlights are smaller and top-of-the-line models get LED headlamps, while LED tail lamps are standard and the rear tailgate has been redesigned.

Interior changes include a new three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters as standard, a 7-inch digital configurable instrument cluster, redesigned centre console, new electric gear selector and 8.4-inch infotainment system. There are more trim options such as more leather in different colours and more wood trim options.

It’s powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 3.6-litre V6 petrol and 5.7-litre V8 engine, mated to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Jeep has introduced the 2014 SRT high performance variant of the Grand Cherokee with a 6.4-litre HEMI engine making 476PS of power and 629Nm of torque. It features a sportier front bumper, black portions around the headlights, new rear spoiler and rear bumper with oval exhaust pipes.

High end models get 18-inch aluminium wheels, plated chrome insert with a recessed Jeep badge on the tailgate trim applique.

The 2014 Compass’ new trim levels depend on the variant, featuring leather, vinyl and chrome inserts and seat mounted side airbags for enhanced safety.

Engine options include a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder making 160PS of power and 190Nm of torque and a 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder engine with 174PS of power and 223Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a new six-speed automatic gearbox for enhanced performance.

The Patriot gets new seat mounted side airbags as well as the new six-speed automatic gearbox. Engine options include the 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder or the 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder.
