Jaguar renowned for their exploits in world of motorsports and more recently for their luxury sedans and gorgeously styled sports car has entered the world of two-wheels. Before you cook up an imagination of some beautifully crafted motorcycle with ballistic amounts of firepower we will like to add that it is a bicycle.

The iconic British carmaker has teamed up with cycling outfit Team Sky that has won the coveted Tour de France in redesigning its team bike. For this purpose it collaborated with frame manufacturer Pinarello and started redesigning the Dogma 65.1 racing bike from scratch. Jaguar used the expertise of its designers and engineers in reshaping the frame tubes and various components of the bicycle. It took the help of Computational Fluid Dynamics in improving the aerodynamic efficiency of the cycle and also tested the bike in a wind tunnel.

The end result is that the Pinarello Dogma F8 is 26 per cent more aerodynamically efficient than its predecessor and Jaguar hopes that this will help the Team Sky riders in improving their performance in this year’s edition of the race. The F8 is also an impressive nine per cent lighter and 12 per cent stiffer than its predecessor, thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials like aluminium and carbon-fibre. It is expected that the frame designed by Jaguar will make its way into mass production post this year’s race.
