India-bound 2016 Ford EcoSport unveiled

The official image of the 2016 Ford EcoSport has been revealed. Slated to make its debut in the UK market, the refreshed SUV gets changes to its styling and mechanics.

The updated model comes without a rear mounted wheel and sports black roof and mirror caps. The compact SUV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Customers opting for the SUV without the rear mounted wheel will get a tyre mobility kit as standard on the updated model. Those who prefer having the vehicle with a rear mounted spare wheel will have option at that as well.

Inside, the updated EcoSport gets additional chrome and partial leather seats on the high Titanium models. The privacy glass is offered as standard. The company has also announced Winter Pack that offers a heated windshield, mirrors and front seats and floor-level rear seat ventilation.

The centre console is restyled and features a lowered charcoal black instrument panel with the centre console and door boards in the same colour. The carmaker’s voice-controlled connectivity system – Sync along with a four-inch colour display on the centre console is standard across all trims. To reduce noise, vibration and harshness Ford has used thicker soundproofing materials in the doors and dashboard along with tighter seals around the pedals.

The company claims that it has revised the vehicle’s suspension to offer improved driving dynamics. The revision to suspension system includes changes to the springs, dampers, rear torsion beam, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and electronic power assisted steering settings.

The 2016 Ford EcoSport will be offered with three engine options in the UK- a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre TDCi. In India, the 2016 EcoSport will continue to be powered by the existing range of engines - a 1.0-litre EcoBoost churning out 125PS of power and 170Nm of torque , a 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol unit producing 112PS of power and 140Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine delivering 91PS of power 204Nm of torque.
