It will be the smallest Audi and will surely draw big numbers for the manufacturer

Audi has enjoyed its fair share of sales with the A3 in the compact luxury sedan segment and the Q3 in the compact luxury SUV segment. However, the manufacturer is now planning to expand its network  to smaller cities where consumers might initially prefer a low-budget Audi. Though, Audi India will have to make do with its current line-up until the smallest Audi -- the Q2 is released by the year end. Audi has started producing the Q2 at its Ingolstadt plant in Germany and it will be the most affordable Q family model from the German manufacturer’s stable.

The car measures 4.1-meters in length, and looks a liitle non-Audi -- aesthetically. While the A3, the A4, the A6 and the A8 share semblance in terms of design, the Q2’s face varies considerably from that of the Q family line-up. The hexagonal grille and the headlamps have a boxy set-up as opposed to a sleek-aggressive set-up. The sides flaunt the three-quarters of door area while the rest is occupied by a sleek greenhouse with a sloped roofline. The rear gets a raked rear windscreen, square-ish taillights, cladded bumper and singularly-stacked twin exhaust tips.

On the inside, the Q2 derives its set-up from the A3, however, there are a few details that set it apart from the sedan. The car will more or less get the same features as that of A3, including dual-zone climate control and a free-standing infotainment screen. It will also benefit from a healthy boot space and is expected to seat four people comfortably, despite its five-seat configuration.

The Q2 will get six engine options globally, out of which three would be petrol TFSI and three TDI diesel, ranging between 116PS to 190PS of power. In India, the Q2 could inherit the motors available in the A3.

The car might be priced in the vicinity of Rs 25 lakh, and given its brand image and the features it has on offer, this one is sure to hit the sweet spot.
