The production version of the next-generation Hyundai Verna has been revealed at Chengdu Motor Show, in China. The car will replace the current-gen Verna globally and in the Indian market. However, the car is expected to be launched first in the Chinese market and the Indian launch will follow next year.
The all-new Verna looks very sporty courtesy the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. It carries a hexagonal front grille with horizontal slats, which is flanked by swept-back projector headlamps with DRLs. The front also features a wide lower bumper with projector foglamps, as seen on the latest-generation Elantra. From the sides, however, resemble the current-gen Verna as the two share a similar shoulder crease and the coupe-ish silhouette. The rear features a full-LED taillamp, a tailgate with integrated spoiler, wide reflectors on the rear bumper, etc.
With this reveal, Hyundai has also showcased the interiors of the next-gen Verna. Much to our happiness, the new avatar has ditched the flowing interiors for a more conventional approach. The fresh layout features a much simpler setup with a conveniently-placed touchscreen infotainment screen on a comparitevely vertical dash (with respect to the current one). The unit is flanked by AC louvres, one can also notice a new steering wheel, new seats, etc.
When launched in India, the Verna is expected to sport the same set of petrol and diesel engines as available with the current Verna. However, it is likely that the engines will meet higher standards of refinement and fuel efficiency.
