Hyundai is all set to launch its highly anticipated SUV, the Tucson, on October 24. The car was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo, which took place early this year. It will sit between the Creta and the Santa Fe and will carry forward Hyundai’s promise to revamp its entire lineup. A few more cars that can get revamped in the near future are the Grand i10 (with a facelift) and the Verna (with a generation upgrade).
Coming back to the Tucson, the car carries the all new design scheme of the Hyundai family. A prominent hexagonal front grille flanked by sleek headlamps with twin projectors, a carved front bumper, and an aggressive bonnet. One can also notice all-around body cladding, diamond-cut alloy wheels, prominent shoulder crease, a raked rear windscreen and wide LED tail lamps.
On the inside, the car features a layered cockpit – going by the interiors present in the European-spec car. It is expected to feature a similarly high-set dash with touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and AC louvers on either side of the unit. It is also expected to feature premium soft-touch materials on the dashboard and the door panels along with leather upholstery.
Speaking of the power sources, the Tucson is expected to feature a 2.0-litre diesel motor. The engine could be available in two states of tune, with one producing 138PS, while the other could develop 181PS. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox option is likely to be offered with both the motors as well.
As far as the price is concerned, it could hover around the Rs 18 to 22 lakh bracket. Owing to this, the Tucson’s chief competitors will be the Skoda Yeti and the Honda CR-V.
