Hyundai will be launching the Tucson, whose launch was previously planned for October 24, on November 14. The sporty SUV will be filling the gap between the Creta and the Santa Fe while widening Hyundai’s model range. The car was showcased at the Auto Expo early this year and grabbed a good number of eyeballs.

The Tucson will be Hyundai's second launch in the year after the Elantra – which was launched in late August.

Under the hood, the car is expected to feature the same petrol motor as the Elantra. The 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle inline four-engine produces 152PS of power in the Elantra, and could get slight tweaks to haul the additional weight when used in the Tucson.  On the diesel side, the Tucson might get the same 2.0-litre diesel motor available internationally. The oil burner is tuned to produce 185PS of power and 400Nm of torque.

From the pictures available online, we can safely conclude that the inside of the Tucson will be equally stylish and functional as the exteriors. The high-mounted touchscreen navigation system, flanked by the AC louvres, and the signature Hyundai ice blue backlight will make it quite an exciting car to sit in.

The major exteriors highlights are the unique dual-projector headlamp units, the signature hexagonal grille, sharp shoulder lines, wide all-LED tail lamps, etc. The car will also feature large diamond-cut alloy wheels and all-around body cladding.

The Tucson will be contesting against the Skoda Yeti and Honda CR-V, so expect the price to fall on a similar figure of Rs 15 to 22 lakh.
