Hyundai made its commitment to the Indian automotive industry perfectly clear by declaring that, from 2016 it will launch two new cars every year. The South-Korean carmaker completed half of its self-assigned tasks by launching the new Elantra sedan in August. The remaining half will be completed on October 24, 2016 when Hyundai will officially launch the Tucson SUV in India.
Several dealerships across the country have already started entertaining unofficial bookings with a refundable amount of Rs 25,000. However, when asked about the expected delivery dates, the dealers did not comment. We expect Hyundai to start deliveries of this SUV anywhere close to mid-November this year.
Under the hood, Hyundai will surely keep an option to choose from a diesel mill or a petrol motor. The later, is expected to be same as the one found under the new Elantra’s hood. That means a 2.0-litre engine pumping out 152PS of power and 192Nm of torque. People wanting a diesel mill can expect a more powerful engine as compared to the Elantra’s. If Hyundai wants to set the sales figures on fire, they must equip it with the same 2.0-litre diesel mill that is available in international markets. It is good enough to produce 185PS of power and a healthy 400Nm of torque.
Tucson has been one of the most anticipated cars of 2016, especially with the company working wonders with its smaller sibling, the Creta. Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and slated to fill the gap between the Creta and the Santa Fe, the Tucson is expected to cost between Rs 17-25 lakh. Crafted on Hyundai’s fluidic 2.0 design language, the Tucson is set to become another eye-candy for car enthusiasts.
