  • Recent spy shots also reveal a floating touchscreen, steering wheel from Venue.

The Grand i10 started its life in India as the i10 which underwent various updates and is in its second generation currently. Hyundai is all set to give it a refresh as the current version is starting to look a bit long in the tooth. The car maker will be launching the new and updated Grand i10 on August 20 in India. Not only will it come with revised exteriors and interiors, it will also get BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, along with an AMT transmission.

Despite heavy camouflage on the spotted test mules, we were able to figure out that the hatchback will come with redesigned headlamps. It was also seen sporting a new set of alloy wheels and revised tail lamps. Expect it to also come with a revamped version of the trademark cascading grille along various other changes. Coming to the interiors, we expect it to share parts with other Hyundai models. For example, it was seen with the turbine AC vents and the gear knob from the Santro with the steering wheel from the Venue. The Grand i10 will most likely get a similar floating touchscreen infotainment setup as the Venue too.

Considering Hyundai’s penchant for features, the new Grand i10 might also come with cruise control and various other standout features to give it a unique identity in the segment. Also expected are features like climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls and more.

Moving on to powertrain options, it is expected to use the same 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, albeit now BS6-compliant. The 1.2-litre petrol engine churns out 83PS and 114Nm, while the diesel makes 75PS and 190Nm. Currently, both the engines come mated to a 5-speed MT. There’s also a 4-speed torque converter on offer, which might make way for a 5-speed AMT from the Santro. A CNG variant might also be on the cards, like the current-gen Grand i10.

The new Grand i10 is expected to be priced from Rs 5.2 lakh to Rs 7.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and its main rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo. We will surely be getting more details prior to the launch, so stay tuned to ZigWheels for latest updates on the upcoming Hyundai.
