After three big launches in India, Hyundai is all set to bring in the next generation of its hot-seller, the Creta, soon. Revealed as the ix25 at the 2019 Auto Shanghai, the 2020 Creta has been spied testing in India before. The ix25 featured revamped looks and a brand new dashboard with a Tesla-esque touchscreen infotainment which has now been confirmed to be a part of the production-spec model.
The upcoming Creta’s production-spec interior has been spied at Hyundai’s manufacturing facility in China. And the Korean carmaker has retained the massive vertically stacked touchscreen. It gives the dashboard a minimalistic look and removes the cluster of buttons including the knobs for the automatic climate control. The upcoming model also comes with digital dials to up the ante.
Also seen in the spyshot is the all-black dashboard unlike the black-beige colour combo seen before. This suggests that Hyundai could offer the Creta’s interior with various colour choices a la Kia Seltos.
The spy shots also reveal some key features of the 2020 Creta and these include in-built navigation, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, climate control, keyless entry, drive modes and push button start. We also expect features like BlueLink connected car technology and smartphone connectivity to be on offer as well.

Outside, the Creta follows the manufacturer’s latest ‘Sensuous 2.0’ design theme. Main highlights include a huge cascading grille and split LED headlamps and tail lamps. It has also grown up in size as the 2020 Creta will be based on the Kia Seltos’ platform.
Have a look at the table to see how they fare in terms of dimensions:

Under the hood, the 2020 Creta will come with same BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines found in the Kia Seltos. While both engines develop 115PS of power, the petrol unit puts out 144Nm of torque while the diesel churns out 250Nm. A 6-speed manual will be offered on both while the petrol variant might come with a CVT and the diesel could come with the 6-speed AT just like the Seltos. A sportier iteration of the Creta with the 1.4-litre T-GDI motor can’t be ruled out as well.
The 2020 Creta is expected to be launched in India by March 2020. When launched, it will rival the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and of course the Kia Seltos. We expect Hyundai to launch a 7-seater variant too to make it more practical for bigger families. Expect prices to go up over the current model, which is priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
