India's second largest automaker, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., announced the inauguration of its ITI collaboration program in West Bengal today. The collaboration sees the Korean carmaker partner with Ramakrishna Mission ITI in Narendrapur, Kolkata for this initiative. Hyundai had recently announced partnerships with 25 ITIs in India as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program and its contribution to Skill India initiative by Indian government. As a part of this collaboration, Hyundai will offer second year students of Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV) program a specially-designed curriculum, training material, a car, engine, gear box and other learning aids. Additionally, HMIL will also offer students on-the-job training (OJT) at its dealerships, thereby adding practical experience to the domain knowledge.

Speaking on the occasion, Tapan Ghosh, East Zone head at Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, "We are delighted to begin our program in East with Ramakrishna Mission ITI. The collaboration has been successfully implemented across 25 institutes Pan-India and this year, every state will have at least 1 institute per state associated with the program. Hyundai Motors is committed to Government of India's Skill India initiative and through the program aims to increase availability of skilled manpower in the automobile service industry."

The Hyundai-ITI collaboration comes on the back of a successful pilot program which was launched across 5 locations in 2012. In 2016, Hyundai dealerships recruited close to 95 per cent graduates from the skill development program (2012-2015). Hyundai's Skill Development Program has benefited over 1000 students who studied the MMV course at 25 ITIs across India in centers such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Sangli, Dehradun, Ludhiana, Cochin, and Sonepat.
