Husqvarna unveiled the Norden 901 concept motorcycle at EICMA. This neo-retro styled adventure motorcycle brings together the charm of old-school ADV styling and the performance and capability of new-generation adventure tourers. We think the Norden 901 is one of the best concepts to come to EICMA this year. Here is a closer look at the details.

The Norden is based on KTM's parallel-twin adventure bike platform, which also appears on the 790 Adventure. However, the two look poles apart. While the 790 Adventure has a more pleasing design, the Norden 901's design feels more focussed on aesthetics.

It gets a high-mounted front fairing with a fixed wraparound windscreen. We love the flat tri-tone paint job, which while being understated also turns heads. Norden in Scandanavian loosely translates to 'the North'.

The round headlamp looks old school but gets LED lighting. It is flanked by two small LED fog lamps. The fairing and forks are protected by a frame guard finished in gloss black.

The knuckle guards feature a premium-looking aluminium finish while the handlebar grips look comfortable.

The ADV-style fuel tank gets a mount for a tank bag. It appears to borrow switchgear from smaller KTM models such as the 390 Duke and 790 Duke.

The concept motorcycle gets a slim colour TFT screen. It contains a speedometer, tachometer, fuel level and engine temperature, gear position indicator, time, ambient temperature and riding modes. The top screen appears to be a smartphone. It looks like the concept has a mount for your smartphone, which could be configured to double up as a secondary screen and display information such as maps. The Norden gets a large bellypan that should save the underbelly from rocks. It also gets a lower fairing that covers the parallel-twin.motor.

Like most adventure motorcycles, the Norden 901 gets a high-mounted exhaust end can. It is a slim unit and allows for more space for the saddlebags. It also gets a flatter one-piece seat for more comfort over long-distance rides.

Like most focussed adventure motorcycles, the Norden 901 has provisions to mount saddlebags and hard panniers. It also gets a small LED tail lamp unit.

The concept motorcycle shares its powertrain with the new Euro5-compliant KTM 890 Duke. On the Duke, the new 890cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor makes 121PS and 99Nm. It could feature a revised state of tune on the production-spec Norden 901 given the more off-road focus. Expect lower power and more torque possibly delivered at lower rpm.

TThe production spec Norden 901 could get fully adjustable WP suspension.

The concept had fully-adjustable WP monoshock. We expect it to feature on the production-spec model as well.

The Norden 901 gets 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in off-road spec Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. It gets twin disc with radially mounted brakes as well. We love the old-school style disc dust covers.

Husqvarna has an unspoken tradition of unveiling a concept motorcycle at EICMA and launching its production version at the next EICMA motor show. We reckon they might just launch the Norden 901 at the 2020 EICMA. Husqvarna is set to mark its presence in India with the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. However with Indian focus currently on smaller-capacity motorcycles, the chances of the Norden 901 launching here are very slim.
