Honda WR-V Sketch

In a time where SUVs are dominating the decisions of car buyers across the globe, we are witnessing fresh new entrants almost every two weeks. And with the fresh batch of designers producing some of the most unique designs, each car has wowed us. A few examples are the all-new Volvo XC90, the Toyota Fortuner, the Audi Q7, and so on. The latest amongst these is from Honda, apart from the recently revealed 2017 CR-V, and carries the WR-V nameplate. The car has been anticipated widely before and one can find a bunch of renderings on the internet of the car. However, this is the first time that the manufacturer itself has teased the upcoming car in a sketch.

The digital sketch has been released prior to the São Paulo International Motor Show, where the WR-V will make its global debut. This Brazilian motor show will take place from 10 to 20 November, and is significant in predicting future Indian car launches as well, since both the nations share similar market sentiments.

The car is based on Honda’s popular hatchback, the Jazz, and will compete against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza when launched in India. Yes, it is coming to India! But, unfortunately, since the car looks so appealing, it may also affect the sales of the Jazz.

Speaking of the sketch, the front end flaunts a stubby and bold nose. It carries a chunky grille which merges into the boxy stepped headlamps. One can also notice a wide air dam with the number plate, not to mention the muscular lower bumper with sporty fog lamp housing. The sides showcase the WR-V’s derivation from the Jazz – with a similar door layout and shoulder line. However, the diamond-cut wheels and the all-around body cladding are unique to the WR-V.

The WR-V, when launched in India, is expected to draw its power from the same set of petrol and diesel engines which are available with the Jazz: The 1.2-litre petrol motor with 90PS of power and the 1.5-litre diesel with 100PS on tap. Moreover, it could also feature fresh new interiors as opposed to using the same one from the Jazz, which is a good thing.

The sketch appeals, however, let’s see how the real thing looks like once it is showcased at the São Paulo International Motor Show. When launched in India, it is expected to carry a slightly premium price tag over the Jazz.

P.S: Honda calls the new car as ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’, hence the name WR-V.
