Honda is likely to bring its performance models, the CBR 150R and the CBR 250R, back into the market, with BS-IV compliant engines. According to our sources, the updated 150R will take a month to reach dealerships while its bigger cousin, the CBR 250R, will take two months. The booking amount for both the bikes is Rs 5,000. One can book now but will have to wait till the bikes come to the market.
The CBR 250R is powered by a 249.6cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine which belts out 26.5PS at 8,500rpm and 22.9Nm at 7,000rpm. The CBR 150R is powered by a smaller 149.4cc liquid cooled engine which is good for 18.5PS at 10,500rpm and 12.66Nm at 8,500rpm. Both the bikes are well known for their refinement and touring capabilities. Transmission duties for both the bikes are taken care of by a six-speed gearbox.
The CBR 250R was the first faired budget performance motorcycle from the stables of Honda. It was then followed by the smaller-engined CBR 150R. Unlike the Hero Karizma, Honda plans to continue producing its sports models, but with BS-IV compliance now. The CBR twins are the only budget performance bikes from Honda that come with liquid-cooled engines. The CBR 150R was priced at Rs 1.23 lakh while the 250R costed Rs 1.6 lakh for the non-ABS version and Rs 1.89 lakh for the ABS variant, all ex-showroom Delhi. Expect a price rise of about Rs 5,000-10,000 over the previous pricing for the updated models.
