Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) debuted an all new mini-bike, the Navi, at the 2016 Auto Expo held in New Delhi. The mini bike was something new to the Indian two-wheeler industry and grabbed a lot of eyeballs at the event. Launched with a sticker price of Rs 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Navi received a positive response. The Japanese manufacturer managed to sell 10,000 units of the Navi in just a few months. Now, in order the meet the growing demand of the Navi, HMSI has doubled the production.

The Honda Navi is the first two-wheeler that has been designed and developed completely at company’s R&D facility in India. The Navi has the silhouette of a mini motorcycle but draws power from a gearless scooter engine. The unique combination makes the Navi a desirable runabout for daily errands, the quick dash to college and a lot more.

The Navi is powered by the tried and tested 110cc four-stroke engine (from the Activa), that is well known for its reliability and efficiency. The engine is capable of producing 8PS of max power and 9Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a variomatic gearbox. It gets a 3.8-litre fuel tank, and as claimed by the manufacturer, returns a fuel efficiency of 60kmpl. It features telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drum brakes at both ends.

Honda currently sells the Navi in just 10 cities across India and has plans to further expand its reach to other locations by the end of this year. Given the sales figures that the Navi is generating and the future launches in other cities, the production hike is definitely a good decision by Honda.
