Madras Motor Racing Track (MMRT) is all set to host the upcoming Round 5 of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) from Friday (22nd September to 24th September). A total of 22 riders will be competing in the Honda One Make Race’s final round in Chennai.
To maintain their dominance, Honda 2Wheelers India has roped in Indian riders Sarath Kumar and Rajiv Sethu to represent the RAMA Honda team. It should be noted that they are the only Indians featured in the ARRC. The Indian duo will be participating in the SuperSports 600cc class and the Asia Production 250cc class, respectively.
Sarath Kumar will lead from the front for the Honda 2Wheelers India team. The 24-year-old is a two-time Honda One Make Race Champion. He’s also the first Indian rider to participate in the 125GP and Moto-3 CEV Championship. He will contest in the Super Sports 600cc segment riding the Honda CBR600RR.
Looking forward to race on home soil, Sarath Kumar (bike # 69) said, “I have been training very hard for the championship and I am so happy to be able to ride for India this season. Personally for me, this season, the Championship has been very fruitful and rewarding as compared to the last season which was full of injuries. Honda 2Wheelers India has always given wings to my dreams and has been a guiding force throughout my career. I am looking forward to delivering my best performance.”
Honda has entrusted Rajiv Sethu (bike # 17) to participate in the ARRC and Thai Talent Cup. The upcoming talent is known for his aggressive riding style and rich technical background. He will be participating in the Asia Production 250cc class aboard the Honda CBR250RR.
Excited for his first championship race in Chennai, Rajiv Sethu, said, “While this Championship is important for all the riders, it holds a special importance for me, as I am going to perform on my home ground. It is both a source of confidence and motivation for me. Honda’s constant support has played the most pivotal role by providing me with this opportunity. I have always been very comfortable on the Chennai track, and there is nothing like racing here. As a first timer in ARRC, my learning curve has been very steep.”
The Underbone 130cc category has now been replaced with the superior 150cc class. However, the highlight of the event will undoubtedly be the SuperSports 600cc segment, but the Asia Production 250cc will also enthral the fans.
