Sepang proves to be a hard cookie for the Indian contingent

It was a tough weekend for the Idemitsu Honda India Racing team at the sixth round of the Asia Road Racing Championship held at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia. Rajiv Sethu suffered minor injuries as a result of a crash in race one. There was some respite as rookie rider Senthil Kumar continued his solid progress.

Rajiv did show early promise as he was able to qualify 15th. He had the potential to break into the top 10 and earn himself a strong finish. However, he fell down on the first lap, bringing an early end to his first race of the weekend. That said, he managed to stick to 15th position in the following race. It was a commendable feat considering Rajiv was riding with injuries to his back and hand.

Senthil improved from his lowly starting position of 22nd in both races. Considering that this is his first season in the class, it is commendable how Senthil fought tooth and nail to climb up five spots in both races to beat more seasoned opposition. And that too, at a track that he is not too familiar with.

The final round of the championship will take place at the Chang International Circuit, Thailand, on 29 November - 1 December. Currently, Rajiv stands 16th in the championship while Senthil lies 27th on the points table. The Idemitsu Honda India team is ninth in the constructor’s championship.
