Honda CR-V Special Edition Launch Imminent

It is based on the facelifted model which is being sold in India for the first time

  • Prices for Honda CR-V possibly to be revealed by November first week.
  • It will feature a redesigned fascia, with the major one being the wider bumper.
  • Additional features include a powered co-driver seat, powered tail gate and front parking sensors.
  • It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol engine with a CVT.

Honda Cars India will soon introduce the CR-V special edition, possibly as early as the first week of November. It is based on the facelifted model sold abroad and will get a proper cosmetic update. The CR-V Special Edition will be offered in limited numbers, so we suggest you be quick if you want one.

The facelifted Honda CR-V gets minor yet tastefully done cosmetic revisions. The large chrome moustache grille on the current model has been thankfully replaced by a nicer looking gloss black trim, which merges the headlamps. The front bumpers are also new and give the overall front-end a neater look. The side profile remains the same as the current model while the rear-end comes with a new bumper.

No changes on the interior of the facelifted CR-V special edition, but it’ll come with important feature additions such as a powered front passenger seat, front parking sensors, a powered tailgate, cornering function for the fog lamps and auto closing wing mirrors. These features are not offered in the standard model.

Other notable features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver’s display, cruise control, powered driver’s seat, Honda’s Lane Watch camera and ambient lighting. Safety is taken care by six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake, hill launch assist and electronic stability control.

There are likely to be no changes under the hood. The CR-V will be continued to be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine developing 154PS of power and 189Nm of torque. A CVT is the only transmission on offer.

The Honda CR-V Special Edition is likely to command a premium over the current model priced at Rs 28.27 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be offered in limited numbers for now, but we expect these cosmetic updates to trickle down to the standard model as it has been on sale since 2018. The CR-V fights it out with the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq TSI
