Honda CB Shine touches 30 lakh mark

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that its Honda CB Shine has become the first 125cc motorcycle in India to reach the 30 lakh units milestone.

At the same time, the Honda CB Shine has raced ahead to become Honda Motor Company, Japan’s number one selling motorcycle across the company’s two-wheeler operations worldwide.

Speaking about the milestone, Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, HMSI said, “We thank our valued customers, business partners and Associates for this remarkable feat. CB Shine is not only No. 1 selling 125cc motorcycle in India but also the world! For the first time ending FY’14, CB Shine has become No. 1 selling motorcycle for Honda Motor Company, Japan worldwide.”

The Honda CB Shine was launched in April 2006 and in the first year garnered 9 per cent market share with sales crossing 1.17 lakh units. Last fiscal 2013-14, the 125cc motorcycle segment witnessed a decline in sales; however, the Honda CB Shine registered strong sales of 7.40 lakh units with highest single month sales of 94,300 units in March’14.

The Honda CB Shine is currently produced at HMSI’s Tapukara (Rajasthan) and Narsapura (Karnataka) plants. (Read: Honda CB Shine vs Bajaj Discover 125M Comparison Review)
