What’s New On The Hero XPulse 200 BS6?

How different is the adventure motorcycle now?

Hero MotoCorp silently announced the prices of its adventure motorcycle, the XPulse 200 BS6. The bike doesn’t cost a whole lot more than what it did earlier but it has gained one new feature. Here’s what’s different about the new adventure bike:

It was obvious that the 199.6cc single-cylinder engine would only exist in a fuel-injected state. Plus, it has gained a chunky cat-con and now gets an oil cooler. Performance hasn’t been sacrificed by much. Peak power of 18.08PS at 8500rpm is 0.32PS lower than before and it is now produced at 500rpm higher. Max torque of 16.45Nm is generated at 6500rpm (same as before) but is crucially 0.6Nm lower.

The addition of the cat-con, oil cooler and other small changes has resulted in a weight gain of 3kg, with the XPulse 200 now weighing 157kg. The increase in weight should not be much of a bother as the XPulse continues to be a light motorcycle that you can take to the trails.

What's the same?
Nearly everything else. Right from the long-travel suspension and the 21-/18-inch wire-spoke rims to the brakes, there are no changes to report on the mechanicals front. Even dimensionally, the seat height of 823mm, which is a tad bit too high, is the same and so is the incredible 220mm ground clearance. There are no new features to be found on the XPulse 200 BS6. It still gets the same old LED headlight, digital console and smartphone connectivity. So, in essence, you are getting the same motorcycle with just a cleaner engine.
