Hero MotorCorp will be inaugurating its new R&D facility on March 9th. The new Hero R&D facility has been located at Jaipur, Rajasthan. The foundation stone of a new Hero Centre of Global Innovation and Research & Design (R&D)’ in Kukas near Jaipur on September, 2013. The R&D facility was supposed to start functioning last year but the project has been delayed by a year.

To setup the R&D Facility Hero has invested a total of around Rs 450 crore. Hero Centre of Global Innovation and R&D will play a crucial role in developing the range of next-generation Hero two-wheelers for its customers in India and around the world. The new facility is very significant for Hero as it had lacked the technology competence of its rivals after the split from Honda. This has meant that it has been unable to churn out new products given the changing trends of the two-wheeler industry.

Hero MotoCorp currently manufacturers all its motorcycles in four manufacturing facilities that includes Gurgaon, Daruhera, Haridwar and Neemrana. Meanwhile, construction of its fifth manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat also got underway in 2014. Sales of some of the Hero MotoCorp offerings have been at an all time high with the bike maker selling more than 1.80 lakh units of the Splendor in the recent past. To ensure that the export market is as fruitful, Hero plans to spread its manufacturing base to more than 20 locations across continents by 2020.
