With the indigenously developed Hero Maestro Edge establishing itself in the 110cc scooter segment, Hero will soon discontinue the Maestro for which it has to pay royalty to Honda

Hero Maestro

The Hero Maestro has been a decent selling scooter offering for the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. In fact it also hold the distinction of being the highest selling scooter offering from Hero. But last year, Hero rode in the new Maestro Edge and since then sales of the Maestro has dwindled. Hero also pays royalty to Honda on the Maestro as the motor has been sourced from the Japanese two-wheeler giant. At the launch of the Hero Achiever 150 in Delhi. Pawan Munjal, chairman and MD, Hero MotoCorp confirmed that the Maestro will be discontinued soon from the Indian market.

Hero Maestro Edge

The above really doesn’t come as a surprise as the new Maestro Edge has been indigenously developed by Hero while the motor on the Maestro is shared with the Honda Activa for which Hero has to pay royalty. The Maestro Edge has more power and slightly less torque in comparison to its predecessor. The fact that the Maestro Edge has been loaded with features like external fuel filler cap, mobile charger and under seat storage light has meant that buyers are also preferring the new scooter despite the marginal premium. Hero claims a mileage of 65.8kmpl for the Maestro Edge and the scooter has been priced at Rs 49,700 ex-showroom Delhi for the base variant.
