It was glad tiding for Harley-Davidson India as it was awarded the Indo-American Trade Excellence award for Operational Excellence in Manufacturing. The felicitation ceremony was organized by Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Mumbai.

Harley-Davidson has been assembling almost its entire range of motorcycles at its Bawal production facility since 2010. India is the second country after Brazil where the iconic American bikemaker has setup a CKD assembly facility. It is at this plant that the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and 500 are manufactured, making India the only country except USA where Harley-Davidson has setup manufacturing facility. Owing to this factor, Harley-Davidson has been able to price the bike so aggressively in our market and making the brand accessible to Harley enthusiast.

It was the 10th year since IACC has been setup and the basic criteria of it is to recognise and felicitate  the best Indian companies in the U.S. and the best U.S. companies in India. The other criterions for the award include the contribution of the individual or an institute to the promotion of Indo-U.S. trade, financial excellence, corporate social responsibility, development of human capital and their impact on the respective markets, etc.
