Harley-Davidson India has issued a recall for certain 2012 Dyna and Softail models over a faulty banjo bolt with thread corrosion that could cause the brakes to fail. As part of the recall, Harley-Davidson India would notify the affected customers and inspect the front brake master cylinder. The faulty parts will be replaced free of charge and recall is expected to commence by month end. According to Harley-Davidson if the brake line threads do get corroded it would cause a sudden loss of brake fluid that might result in the front brakes not functioning appropriately. In the US market, it has issued a recall for 19,015 motorcycles that were manufactured between August 22nd, 2011 and February 24th, 2012.

Harley-Davidson India has issued the following statement regarding the recall, "Harley-Davidson has voluntarily recalled a number of motorcycles belonging to the 2012 Dyna and Softail families. The company has identified that some of these motorcycles may have an issue pertaining to the front brake master cylinders. Harley-Davidson is committed to correcting this issue and we are working with our dealers in India to notify customers and request them to bring in their motorcycles for inspection."
