Maruti Suzuki Super Carry

Maruti Suzuki’s journey into the commercial vehicle space has begun and sales of the Super Carry have officially started in Gujarat. The LCV is available at a price of Rs 4.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad) and can be bought in two colours – Superior White and Silky Silver.

This is a landmark moment as India’s largest carmaker is looking to take on Mahindra and Tata in an automotive segment where it is the newest player. As you’d expect, MSIL is also working to replicate its expansive sales and service network in the CV sector. Mr RS Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki said, “Our target is to reach out to more customers, for this we plan to set up 50 showrooms across five states.”

Maruti Suzuki has invested about Rs 300 crore towards the development of the Super Carry for the Indian market. The light commercial vehicle shares its engine with the Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel, albeit in a different state of tune. Powering the mini-truck is a 793cc, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 75Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Transmission is through a 5-speed manual gearbox and Maruti claims the engine delivers a fuel efficiency of 22.07kmpl. The loading deck measures 3.23 square metres with a loading capacity of 740kg.

Mr. CV Raman, Executive Director (Engineering) said, “Super Carry is a result of our extensive research of the Light Commercial Vehicle market. It addresses the need for power, stability, ride & handling and fuel efficiency.  With shorter turnaround time, more trips and more savings Super Carry is an ideal product for the LCV customer.”
